Key Skills Series: Time Management

In an ever-evolving world, we have become more connected and information travels back and forth at an unprecedent pace. Newspapers could become absolute by the time they reach your doorsteps and we are becoming overloaded with information and tasks to do and a backlog of family matters, books, hobbies and TV shows to catch up on.

It has never been this important to manage our time effectively and it is very easy to get lost in the process. This is why we wanted to share some of our tools that we daily use in order to make the most out of our time on daily basis.


1. To-Do list

Every day has to have an approximate list of tasks that needs to be achieved. And to be crossed when achieved to create a sense of self-fulfilment and achievement and overall satisfaction which will boost your morale and willingness to work.


2. Start by making the bed and adding it to your everyday To-Do list.

We cannot stress this enough. It may seem irrelevant at first but, making your bed in the morning and making a habit of it is a great way to start the day and to start feeling that you have finished something immediately. It is also a great way to set you in the mood of finishing tasks.


3. Prioritise, allocate time and execute

Tasks needs to be measurable with allocated timelines and also needs to be prioritised. Start by the most important to you to the least important crossing along the way everything that was done. In the process of allocation, always account for uncertainty and unpredictable events.

4. Stay focused. Eliminate distractions.


You just received a few new messages on Facebook, oh and a new tweet as well and a couple of likes on Instagram and DMs. Better check them out first! And by the time you are done, perhaps a few emails were just received on top a few phones calls and right before you know it a good portion of the day has already been wasted. Remain focused, cut out social media and all unrelated matters to the tasks in your To-Do list. Finish the tasks first and then allocate yourself some time to enjoy social media.
